problems with server ( linux /ubuntu 6.06 dapper)

Postby titi » Wed Nov 29, 2006 4:51 pm

Hi,

When i start a server in the Ubuntu-Version of nexuiz everything runs fine.
But, I downloaded the actual version from Nexuiz.com and i got problems.

Everything runs fine as long as I'm using it as a client. But when I start a server
nobody can connect. They see the server in the list, but after connecting the connection is
lost. ( server and clients in a local network ).

What's wrong here?

Is there probably a version conflict? Can't Ubunntu-binaries ( Version 2.0 with some patches) connect to a 2.1 Server:?:

please help

It's fixed.

I forgot to setup a download server. In my Nexuiz 2.1version are a lot of extra levels which where unknown to the client. So connecting fails....

Now everything is ok. I modified my Nexuiz-startscript to write a new curl_urls.txt everytime I start Nexuiz. This is needed because my computer gets the IP with DHCP and there is no nameserver running in my local network.

Glad to hear this.. noone really had a idea what could have been wrong, the versions 2.x are all compatible so there should be no problems.. However the 2.1 release has a possible crash after finishing download fixed so you are advised to use the latest version. And for me as CTF player the icons showing the flag status (taken, dropped, carring) is also very important so 2.1 should be it ;)
