Black screen on launch

Postby 1000cranes » Wed Dec 27, 2006 7:25 pm

When i launch nexuiz, I get a black screen and it just stays that way. The mouse changes, the background music plays, but all i see is a black screen.

Can anyone help me?

We could, if you'd help us first in giving us some information about yer hardware setup (especially about your OS, VGA, RAM).

VGA means 'Video Graphics Adapter' and is your graphics card. You should add this to the information you sent us so we know wether to suspect that for your problem.

From what you've already said this may be a RAM problem, as Nexuiz usually requires 256MB of RAM memory to barely run under Windows XP, but we can never be sure. Still, 64 megs seems a little too little for this game.

64 mb of ram is definitely not enough ram. Also if you use the one that says "nexuiz-sdl" that could be the problem. Just from the ammount of ram you gave us though I'm going to say you don't have a good enough computer...

Not to be rude or anything but 64 mb is not even enough to run Windows XP as it should run. (It should be around 8 times as slow or worse unless you tweak it like hell)

I think that's what 1000cranes is shown when the PC boots, so it's the ram of teh VGA. Even then it's kinda hard to get Nexuiz to run for somebody who doesnt know where he can't find out all the information about his hardware setup. Nexuiz isn't that easy to run if you dont have a clue about the hardware you use and if you have too few general computer knowledge.

A black screen with music running should be a reference anyway, it's a generic windows VGA driver probably. so first try to find out which Video Card (VGA) is built in, and install the curent drivers of the manufacturer.

I get a black screen as well...

Nexuiz 2.0 worked fine on my system, but when I downloaded and tried to run 2.2.2 all I get is a black screen with music.

Mac OS 10.4.8

20" iMac

2 gig RAM
ATI Radeon X1600, 256 mb VRAM
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 ghz.

Maybe the monitor resolution is the problem?

Don't you mean debug ? I mean ... installation (downloading and unzipping) is the hardest part. For the rest just hit the Nexuiz-SDL or Nexuiz-Glx file and enjoy ...
