If you turn on your pc, but does nothing, beeps nothing, just blank screen, no bios, that's the PSU dieing. In a matter of time, you'll have to replace it. I know, I've just bought TWO becouse of this.
Sometimes this happens too when you don't connect the pc to the electric network for a long time. PSU again (my pc here at the uni does this too, I'm thinking and gathering money for a new PSU).

We don't have a cat. We do have 2 dogs, though  .

I have 5 dogs and 2 cats. And 2 lizards.

Anyway, if it's beeping it definatly has to do with the pre-boot checkup. Sometimes you can disable it, but I'd leave it on. I don't know how that got past me...

Alright, I tried pushing the RAM back in (I'm pretty sure it was the RAM, anyways...), as well as any other components I could reach.

I also blew out as much of the dust as I could with my air compressor.

Still nothing.

I seem to have something with a Phoenix bios, except that repeated long single beeps doesn't appear to fit any of the beep codes.

I used the online customer support chat feature, and this is what they said:

This will nguide you to determined the main cause of this issue.
Dennis_GWER2389 says:
To open your tower:
1 unplug the tower to power outlet.
2 after unplugging press the power button to remove the flea power or excess power.
3. Open the tower then reconnect the power cable from the power supply to motherboard. (white connector with multi colored wires) and 12v connector also white connector with 4 colored wires.(you just need to remove and put it back.
4. Remove the power cable of your hard drive CD drive and DVD drive.
5. remove the memory card.
6. Remove all the card that is connected to the Motherboard.
7. then after that try to plug the tower back to power outlet then check if it will powerup. if still it wont power the problem will be the power supply.

Note: when it power up turn of again then plug earch componet one by one (ex. plug the memory then turn on the system once it turn on turn off again then plug another componets until everything is back. once the you plug a componet and it didnt turn on it means that components is defective.or the slot were you plug it.) but if all the componet is unplug and it didnt power up it means that the power supply is defective. but when the fan at the back spins it means the Motherboard is defective.

Please be aware that whenever the case is removed precautions should be taken against electrostatic discharge (ESD). Make sure that the computer is off and unplugged. Please maintain contact with a grounded source, such as your computer's frame or use a grounding strap. Damage resulting from improper grounding may not be covered under the manufacturer's warranty if these precautions are not taken. Simply breaking the seal will not void the manufacturer's warranty.

When you are going to plug it back plug each component one by one then turn on the system. then turn off then plug another one then turn on again until it works.

Note: in memory when you remove the memory sticks and when you turn on the system you will hear a beep sound.

If you hear a beep sound turn off the system then plug the memory back if you pass the e logo it means that one of the components have un issue pluging it one by one can determined which part is defective

Does that sound about right, you think?

well, something that works ALOT for me is just looking for all the connections in my box, and just unplugging them, and re-pluging them in. Make sure you unplug your box and touch the power supply occasionally and before starting to discharge static. This works especially on older PCs.

I'm posting this from the affected machine!!! :P :P :P

I disconnected and reconnected all of the power cables mentioned (or at least the ones that would come loose) and removed and reinserted the RAM, and that seemed to do it.
