Stranged Warped View Bug (Please help, I'm vomiting)

Postby player12345 » Thu Feb 22, 2007 3:48 am

I just installed Nexuiz today and had an issue while running it... the camera/view perspective is really fucked up. It warps at the edges of the screen making it sickening and nearly impossible to play.

I'm running on an nvidia geforce 7800, winxp. I'll fill in any other info, but I really can't figure out how the hell I am getting this:

And yes, I'll be vomiting into my trashbin while waiting for a dev response. I mean, I'm manly... but no man play like that and not feel like blowing chunks all over the damn place.

Looks like you accidently turned the fov too high.
Go to Options->Player, there's a slider "Field of View", turn it down and click apply (default is 90).

While in the game, can you open the console using shift+esc, and try typing fov 100? It sort of looks like your field of view is set incredibly high, but it's hard to be sure because I've never played with anything above 135. If this is your problem, it must have somehow got set to at least 160. I've tried this once, and it was indeed sickening; but I'm not sure it looked exactly like that. Give it a go and let us know (:

Edit: too slow!

Alright, thank you guys. I appreciate the prompt help, and now I can play Nexuiz. No more barfing, gg.

Edit: What FOV do you guys use? I can't seem to get mine quite right...

90 is standard.

I think I have mine set to around 110 or so (maybe a little more?) for a little more peripheral vision.

But on another sidenote I LOVE high fov. I sometimes play with 180, 200 just for funzies :) It looks just so damn cool.

I play between 120 and 85 depending on what I'm doing (I have keys bound to different fovs).

Hmm i wonder why its that easy to mess with those settings.. There was someone else changing view size to something damn small so that it was the size of a stamp on his screen.
Maybe we should limit those settings more.. like 100, 110 for viewsize (full hud, numbers only and 90-120 for fov. Disable hud with 120 might be useful in the menu but then we should change it from using numbers to just have 3 possiblities and also not call it viewsize but HUD.. full/low/off ..

I use fov 110. 90 is too small imo, 100 still too similar to 90.. 110 is perfect.. more is too much :)
