Bizzare network problems

Postby torus » Tue Apr 17, 2007 9:01 pm

I have been experiencing some strange network behavior when playing Nexuiz. My ping is displayed as impossibly high, usually 8600 to 9999ms, my input takes about 8-20 seconds to respond (obviously this renders the game 100% unplayable), and in one case the scoreboard showed my name multiple times. The rest of the game world plays at real time, but I would imagine about 20 seconds later than the rest of the players see it.

Any ideas? :(

I have 2 different routers- an "Airport Extreme" router, and a Linksys BEFSR41 v2. This behavior is not affected by a change of router, and I have a static IP, if that helps. Also, my internet (at least http ports) work (I have DSL), albeit a bit slow FSR.

Not really an idea.. but maybe your ISP changed something that causes those problems.. Around here DSL disconnect each 24h which could also lead to problems. Basically there is nothing anyone can change regarding to ping as it depends on the network architecture..

I had alike problems yesterday at noon, together with my colleague. We played on the DCC server, suddenly we both had the clock and couldn't move anymore. Sometimes at the same time, sometimes one after the other. So we disconnected and reconnected, and both of us were in the game twice. Then the same happened again, and we had 6 Players with 2 nicks :D

The ping timeout of 5 minutes should be shortened.
