Yes, the problem seems to be that every Mac is different... problems are just as varying as with PCs.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

divVerent - I'm not expecting you or any of the other developers to go out of your way to support OSX. As a long time Mac user I'm more than accustomed to developers attitudes towards Apple :p

I'm very glad the game runs at all, and I understand there is practicaly no bug testing that can be done for Mac problems.

When I said: "OK, well at the very least this issue & it's solution need to be a lot more prominent. " I wasn't demanding that you drop everything and fix the problem. The problem, when it does occur, has a very easy solution. My point was that it wouldn't hurt to put this as a known issue in the release notes or changelog, or somewhere that a new user to the game might more easily see it and then know how to fix it if it occurs for them. That's all.

In any case, I have an Intel Mac Mini, so I will try playing Nexuiz under Windows sometime to see how it compares. Heck, I might as well re-install Ubuntu to compare all 3 OS's side by side.

I'm not sure if this is true for every instance or not, but on my MacBook Pro, Anisotropic Filtering was automatically set at x16. When I switched it to "Off" the mouse problems seemed to go away. It's crazy, I know, but it seemed to work that way. No change in FPS that I could see.

I just checked back on this (I didn't realize it wasn't totally dead after the last comment when I left) IT WORKED! I had to turn my sensitivity down after this (one extreme to the other) Still: IT worked! I'm off to telll everyone playing on every game I own about how I can play again and ruin their games

Well, thanks. The most amazing part was that you told ME-iSuck-how to use it again. I was pretty sure most people wanted me out (ya, I get beaten by nooblets)

So again, thank you.

I still have no idea why this change was bad for you and many others - it was perfectly fine for me, both with the generic five-euros USB mouse "TYPHOON Optical Mouse" and the Apple mouse that came with my Mac.

Even worse, someone already asked for our "disable mouse acceleration" code and wants to use it in his own game - so we really HAVE to find a solution. Any Apple devs here? MAYBE I was in fact doing something wrong and on some systems, mouse motion is divided by some number so DP still doesn't get the raw mouse motion, but a less exact and less fine one? If that is the case, ZQuake should have the very same problem though...

-- late to the topic, apologies --

DivVerent: The mac you're using; is it PPC or x86? I have an identical problem with the fruitz-of-dojo Quake II port for my intel mac -- the mouse movement is ridiculously slow & if I crank the sensitivity up around 100 or 200 then it becomes choppy. The same port though, running on my old G4 has no issues whatsoever. It's possible all the people with the mouse problems are on intel macs & all the people without are on PPC macs.

I noticed when I first booted up nexus 2.3 a few months ago that it exhibited this problem & was stoked to find the solution so simple. Unfortunately I'm yet to find any way of making Quake II run acceptably on my mac pro :/
It's time to make trax.
