yeah, I mean that was for if you overwrote your current installation of 2.2.3, which I'm assuming you didn't, but I guess it wouldn't make a difference anyways...

Hi, I am getting the same problem with textures in Ubuntu Feisty 64 bit with an ati x1400 card and fglrx drivers from the Ubuntu repos. I was having the same problems with the previous version of Nexuiz. Here is a screenshot. I installed 2.3 from the debs at getdeb.

Looks like the driver got the lightmap and normal textures confused,

Bonus point to ATI for artistic interpretation of GL commands...

Yes this indeed looks like a driver bug.. but you can first try to 'usual' ati options and disable the Vertex Buffer Objects and then maybe the Opengl 2.0 Shaders. You can find both in the Options/Video menu.

Or maybe there was a error when installing the drivers and you have a mix of ati and mesa drivers. What is the output of:
Code: Select all
glxinfo| grep -i direct\\\|string

(or does ati has a special name for glxinfo? )

disabling VBO and shaders does not help.

the output of glxinfo is:
Code: Select all
direct rendering: No
server glx vendor string: SGI
server glx version string: 1.2
client glx vendor string: ATI
client glx version string: 1.3
OpenGL vendor string: Tungsten Graphics, Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI R300 20060815 x86/MMX/SSE2 TCL
OpenGL version string: 1.3 Mesa 6.5.2

i would like to restate that my problems only appeared in 2.3, thus my problems may (or may not) be different from carpexx's

Looks like your driver setup is messed up. It looks like you have setup fglrx in your xorg config, but /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 points to the mesa version of libGL, not ATI's...

Try reinstalling fglrx, that'll hopefully fix that problem.

i found the problem: fglrx was disabled for some reason. enabling it solved everything.

Maybe this was done by some update you did around the time when switching from Nexuiz 2.2.3 to 2.3 :) Glad its working now.
