I have the spins and I am not drunk!

Postby MrFaNcYpAnTs » Sat Aug 11, 2007 1:39 am

I downloaded and installed the game. My character spins uncontrollably all over the place. I can run, move directions, but the character never stops and always wants to point towards the sky and spins constantly. It almost makes me sick to watch it. This is the only game that I have this issue with.
Ubuntu 7.04
AMD 4000 64bit
XFX Nvidia 7300 GT
2GB Ram

Do you have a joystick connected? If so either unplug it or open the console (shift+esc) and enter
Code: Select all
set joystick 0
set joy_enable 0

(I'm on a mac)
This happens to me too, but not constantly. every quake game I've played has a tendancy to ocasionally flip my view upwards and spin (or ocsilate-I don't know with a limited fps)

I just move my mouse downwards to face forward, and it stops.

This is a problem that doesnt only happen on certain OSes, and it doesnt only happen with the current version.

My colleague StaniD had this problem on XP for a long time. He was using a cordless Desktop, not knowing that the USB connector would work for both mouse and keyboard. However, I think that's just an issure occuring on hardware/driver issues. Sorry for having no details.

Happens to me every once in a while, too -- but I move the mouse around and goes back to normal. Probably a buggy optical sensor or something.

Whenever I hit Capslock accidentally while playing [it's so damn close to SHIFT :D] all of my controls go doo-lally. I get the spins and my weapon at hand starts firing out of any hole it has. By the time I get the control back I'm oftentimes somewhere far from where I started out.

Kinda funny though, I like it :) And players who get to witness it usually find it equally amusing.
Now with new shiny avatar.
