Massive performance lag (In main menu?!)

I am running Ubuntu, my system specs are as follows:

Core 2 duo 2.13Ghz, 2x1Gb DDR2 Ram, 512mb Radeon X1950pro, Creative SoundBlaster Audigy.
I have the correct audio and video drivers running, too.

When I launch the game the audio stutters a lot in the menu and the frame rate is ridiculously low (0-5 fps I am guessing)
Also, is there supposed to be no mouse pointer on the menu?

Is there anyway to fix the performance issues? Im not using a low end system!

Are you shure your video drivers are working correctly? From your description i'm pretty shure there's no hardware acceleration... What's the ouput of

glxinfo | egrep 'direct|vendor'

on your system?

My system: Windows Vista 32bit, Core 2 duo 1.6Ghz; Ati mobilitiy Radeon X1350; 1Gb Ram...

I have installed newest drivers but there are still massiv lags in the mainmenu. sound and graphic...

I hope someone can help me to fix this problem

If you got your grphic drivers via windows update: download the proper driver from ati.com and try again (the driver m$ ships lacks OpenGL support, so it's of no use for Nexuiz or other OpenGL games)
