Kubuntu 7.10+oss+Nexuiz = No Sound

Postby ripper81 » Wed Dec 05, 2007 9:27 am

Hello i am german Nexuizplayer (so sorry for the bad english).

Nexuiz runs great but since i switched from alsa to oss, there is no more Sound in the game.

Any ideas about that?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, nexuiz-glx is built against ALSA: You can try nexuiz-sdl instead.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Just out of curiosity, why did you switch to OSS? are you having sound lag?

nexuiz-sdl is already included in the nexuiz package, it's in the same folder as nexuiz-glx.

He's talking about the debian/ubuntu package, not nexuiz-23.zip

@ripper81: that package only cantains the sdl binary, so you already have the right one, but perhaps you libsdl doesn't support oss. Try installing libsdl1.2debian-oss or libsdl1.2debian-all that might fix your problem...
