thanks to esteel, i got it to work...

this is what my config.cfg file looks like:

vid_height "1024"
vid_refreshrate "50"
vid_userefreshrate "1"
vid_width "1280"


the crucial line there is 'vid_userefreshrate "1"' - without that line, the refreshrate var is not used.

Good to know. My monitor is 60Hz, but I might upgrade it soon and would want to adjust the refresh. :D

Well the default of vid_userefreshrate 0 should be fine for most people.. in that case the graphic drivers should choose the 'best' available refreshrate. It just seems that in superfly's case his monitor and graphic driver did not have the same idea of 'best refreshrate' :)

What this means is that your xorg.conf has incorrect refresh rate data on your monitor, so it is overriding what the EDID from the monitor says, and assuming it can do things it can not.

This problem is not related to Nexuiz in any way.
