Mouse latency?

Postby Psychcf » Sun Jan 20, 2008 3:21 am

I'm noticing (even in local games) that my mouse seems to be having latency issues. This does not seem to happen with other games.

Intel mainboard, ubuntu gutsy x86_64

Here's some info on my mouse:

Looks like you're using evdev. Try using the regular driver instead.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

I don't believe I am...

here's what I've got in my xorg.conf:
Code: Select all
Section "InputDevice"
    Identifier     "Configured Mouse"
    Driver         "mouse"
    Option         "CorePointer"
    Option         "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
    Option         "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
    Option         "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
    Option         "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
    Option      "Buttons" "9"
#    Option      "ButtonMapping" "1 2 3 6 7 8 9"
EndSection

Turn "Emulate3Buttons" off. You mouse should have 3 buttons anyway and that option makes X delay each click a few milliseconds to figure out wheather you also press the other button.

turned three button mouse emulation off, and it did not help. I also tried using openbox instead of gnome, that changed nothing. I also disabled my joystick, that also did not help.

What exactly means latency issue? Does it result in periodic rough movements? Check glx and sdl versions.

well, movement of the mouse is perfect, but mouse buttons have a split-second delay consistently.

antilag has nothing to do with your opponent's ping and definitely doesn't delay your input.

Here's a video showing the problem. I doubt it'll help, but I figured "why not"...
