Maybe the directory privileges are messed up and settings can't be saved therefore.

And what can I do about it?

You can check them and correct them if they are bad.

I dunno how this is done on Mac OSX. Maybe, like in other OSes, with "ls", "chmod", "chown" and "chgrp".

To repair permissions / privileges on mac go to disk utility in utilities and choose repair permissions , idk if this is what you need.

Don't know that thing...

but try this:

- open Terminal.app
- enter:

id (to find out your own username and groupname, which typically are the same)
chown -R yourusername:yourgroup ~/.nexuiz
chmod -R a=rX,u+w ~/.nexuiz

After that, your permissions should be right. If any of these commands fails with a "permission denied" message, prepend it with "sudo" and enter your password.

However, if nothing else works, move away your ~/.nexuiz folder and let Nexuiz create a new one:

mv ~/.nexuiz ~/.nexuiz.old

After that command, the Nexuiz folder is renamed, and it will no longer find it, and create a new - cleanly set up - one.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

... if the home directory is writable.

If it isn't, hell is breaking loose with LOTS of other stuff too.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again
