graphics card/driver glitches and workarounds

Postby divVerent » Sat Apr 15, 2006 2:34 pm

This thread is dedicated to graphics card/driver problems and how to work around them. It is meant as a help for those who suffer from such problems and not for discussion - discussion is done elsewhere please. Bugs of the engine do NOT go here.

Please follow these guidelines for a posting in this thread:
  • Each post should contain a, maybe cropped, screenshot (hint: by default, F12 saves one). Not too high resultion please, but high enough to recognize the glitch. The image shall be displayed directly in the thread so people can immediately find "their" glitch. These images should be compressed down as far as possible but still show the glitch well.
  • You should give as much detail about graphics card, OS and driver version as possible.
  • If you find a solution or a workaround to the glitch at a later time, please do not reply. Instead, edit your post and add it.
  • Please keep the posts short and uncheck "attach signature" on the reply/post page.

That way, someone who encounters a glitch can look in this thread and find a solution or a workaround.

I'll start with the first one:

GLITCH: flickering triangles/objects with totally wrong textures, starting after about half a minute of playing
Image, Image
graphics card: ATI Radeon 9200, onboard in a Mac mini
OS: Mac OS X 10.4.6 "Tiger", all software updates installed
driver: included with OS
WORKAROUND: gl_lockarrays 0
other info: does not happen on the same system on Linux with X.org's "radeon" driver
