Invisible Rockets :P

I was on one of the 2.4 supported servers just a minute ago and someone came in and joined me. Few minutes into the game they told me my rockets were invisible. Asked him what version of Nexuiz he was running and he said 2.3. Maybe if you join a 2.4 server with a 2.3 client it should kick you out with a message to upgrade or something not sure. Does seem to be an issue though.

Actually you can see a message in the game menue of the 2.3 version "Update to Nexuiz 2.4, and in addition, if you join a server running a newer version, you are informed about the fact that your client is outdated and you should update, iirc. Even if you run a newer version than the server, you get a note.

The other side is - you must be able to read and understand this message.

edit: I connected with 2.3 just for a test on a 2.4 server. I saw the rocket projectiles, but their explosions AND the beam of the Nexgun were invisible.

2.3 clients are compatible, but they still need to update 2.4 to get all the features.

However there is a work around, few 2.4 servers keep a better compatibility with 2.3 clients by forcing them to download and use an extrapackage (zz-effectinfo). The servers are :

The package stay active until you quit nexuiz, so you can connect to one of the 3 servers and then to the servers you really want in order to see the missing effects.

But it's better to update to nexuiz 2.4 as soon as possible, theses servers will only use the compatibility pack during a transitional period.

Right. 2.3 on 2.4 just barely works, but still enough to be playable.

Oh, and note - that package won't be enabled forever. I probably will remove it from my server in a month.
