Sure.

Open the data*.pk3 with a zip file extractor. You will find a file "weapons.cfg". Extract it, and edit it to your preferences.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

Thanks! I was trying to avoid editing main game data, so I'd presume putting a copy of the cfg file in the root Nexuiz directory and typing "exec *.cfg" would run it?

Sure, as divVerent said.. just open the pk3 file and extract (!!) the weapons.cfg .. put it into Nexuiz/data and it will 'overwrite' meaning it will be used instead of the one in the pk3 file
Or give it an other name so you can still have the 'pure' version and then 'exec myfile.cfg'

Just to add another similar report, I had the same problem, with the same Offset 00037c7e message. I fixed it by downloading and installing the newest ATI driver.

I have the same issue with a ATI aio Pro 9600 with the omega drivers, same error as everybody else, that card is on my dual boot XP and Ultimate Ubuntu, I cant get very good FPS in Linux with that card..sloppy drivers but Beryl still looks sweet :)

Seems to be a ATI issue, 2.4 runs fine on my other box that just has Ultimate Ubuntu and dual 7600 GT's.
I really wish there was a fix for this, but if its a ATI issue I guess I'm out of luck, and asking ATI to look at anything from the open source community is a waste of time

Also the rockets seem to disappear when playing 2.3 on a 2.4 server..that and other weird stuff ..the versions really are not compatible imo.

One more thing, The game will start in SDL but it still crashes after a map or 2 with the same error everybody else is having.

The rocket model was changed but hey noone ever said stuff is 100% compatible and you also need to get people to update :) At least you CAN still play without being FORCE to update, though you miss a lot if you do not :D
