How kind of system does your brother own? Graphic card and such stuff would be nice to know.. Maybe a driver update will help?

How about posting some medium detailed system specs? Don't you get any error messages?

about the pc

Postby Calavera » Mon Mar 10, 2008 7:47 pm

382 ram
P4 2.66 ghz
ATI mobility radeon 9000 IGP 128 mb

and no it doesn't display any error msg, just gets to the part where it says player is now spectating in the console and nothing more happens (the console uses all th screen) and then the game closes

P.D. doesn't looks like a driver problem

I guess we're having a Laptop there? Well, iirc the Radeon 9000IGP adapter doesn't use separate memory but "shared" memory (means it uses the main RAM of the computer). That makes it quite hard to get Nexuiz running on that machine. It indeed doesn't look like a driver problem, more a problem of too few RAM. You have to run Nexuiz at the lowest possible quality settings.

There could be a chance however if you try to enter the system setup (BIOS) and allign less memory to the IGP. 64MB should be enough. At least my Laptop with a 64MB Mobility Radeon 9000 (non-IGP) runs quite ok.

Try to kill all running processes you don't need in the task manager before starting Nexuiz.

yes indeed it's a lap and maybe it's the ram but then it should say couldn't allocate memory or an error msg but nothing like that happens
P.D. i tryed with the lowest possible options but it's the same

See, isn't it more fun to try the hard problems? :D

Well right after that message the 'real' 3D rendering begins so if the drivers are old (which for laptops they often tend to be) they might still contain bugs that make the drivers crash the game which is nothing we can fix. there was some thread about the 'omega drivers' that might help..

Well maybe there is a new uptodate version thats compatible.. or some thats 'made' for laptop. I mainly use linux so i can't test them and have no special interest in browsing the whole site :)
