hi. I just installed the newest Nexuiz version onto Fedora 8 x86_64, and every time I try to start the game my monitor just flashes "out of range".
I'm 99.99% sure it's a resolution problem (my monitor doesn't like 800x640 or lower). how can I fix this without actually entering the game?
no big deal

You can edit ~/.nexuiz/data/config.cfg :
- Code: Select all
vid_fullscreen "1"
vid_height "600"
vid_width "800"
or start the game once, with the command :
./nexuiz-linux-glx.sh +vid_height 800 +vid_width 600
or
./nexuiz-linux-sdl.sh +vid_height 800 +vid_width 600
Of course use the appropriate resolution

The other thing worth investigating is if your system is setup for 3d stuff correctly. Like having installed Nvidia/Ati drivers..
glxinfo| grep -i 'string\|direct'
If it says direct rendering: yes
that part should be ok..

I can start the game with those commands, but I cannot change the resolution in the game options.
edit:
nvm. worked with the sdl (not with the glx). thanks people.
no big deal

Funny.. could you tell us more about your system? Like what graphic card, what X or if you get an error message in the ingame console when you try switching the resolution with glx?
