Currently on SVN r_glsl_deluxemapping defaults to 2, that is that it is forced. As Nexuiz does not force glossmaps (like Tenebrae does) it would follow that deluxe maps should not be forced so a default of 1 would seem more sensible.
For the moment offsetmapping does not seem quite right. Relief mapping does not always look better either.
Another problem is that these effects will not look very good at low resolutions. Testing at 1280x960 (slowly) has shown up lots of aliasing and AA will not help, it'll just smudge it all together. A high resolution is the only way to get round it and I doubt anyone has the power to run all of these effects playably at 1600x1200 yet.
