loud and very anoying sound when returning to nexuiz window

loud and very anoying sound when returning to nexuiz window

ok heres what happens, if there is players playing on the server, than when i go in console and switch to another window (i am in windowed mode) the sound from nexuiz switch off, which is good. when i will bring focus back to the nexuiz window, i will get an awful distorted and extremely loud sound. i will get that sound even if the players that where on the server all left and the map is completely silent. i play with headphone, and each time this happens, i fear i just lost a part of my hearing. ..please keep my ears in health and tell me how can that be corrected.

I do not get a distorted or very loud sound but when I return to the game it will sometimes play all the sounds that I 'missed' while I was away in one big 'welcome back' sound. For me this isn't annoying because I never have sound at full throttle anyway but I can see how inconvenient it can be when using headphones. Are you sure it is distorted like you say, or is it the way that I describe it where it just plays a lot of sounds all at once ?

I never had that problem and i used to play in window mode and switch a lot but i'm also using linux and the nexuiz-sdl binary. What system/binary are you using? Might be a bug? What VERSION are you using?

at the moment i'm using 2.4.1 with hofix of may 2nd. the glx version on linux ubuntu. yes i could describe that sound as an addition of all the sound i missed while being in the other windows. but it seem that the volume of all the sounds add up together which give an impression of distortion. i also notice that the strange and loud sound is always the same. In my opinion, the normal behavior would be to just skip those sounds and when the user goes back to the nexuiz window it play the sound that are happening at that moment. if the other players left and no sound are occurring, it should play no sound at all.
