Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Patch Problem

Ok I am a noob to Linux and i used the Add/Remove Programs to get Nexuiz. The Problem is i need to patch and i have no idea where to start looking. If someone could help me out i would appreciate it.( I have downloaded the patch but finding where i need to install it is the problem)
