If you're in windows, delete the file Nexuiz\data\config.cfg. On linux and mac, you can find it under a hidden directory /home/username/.nexuiz/data/config,cfg. That'll reset all your settings to the defaults.
If you want to learn from it, you can do this too: open config.cfg in notepad eg. It's a plain text file, you shouldn't have problems understanding it. Search for the value "brightness" and "gamma". Change that value to a sane number. I don't have that value before my eyes rigt now, but I assume the higher the number is, the brighter you screen gets. Take the half of that number, that should be enough too.
I encourage you to do the latter, that way all your other settings don't get lost, and you'll know the game better too :)

Edit: the values you ned to change should be v_brightness and v_gamma.

You don't need to uninstall it :) Look around the cfg file then:

If you can't find the cvar that definies the brightness, simply delete the cfg file. Next time youl start nexuiz, it'll be created again, and it'll store all the default values.

...

I suppose you've downloaded it from sourceforge, and extracted the zip file. In that case, simply delete your nexuiz folder...
Btw that won't solve your problem, because your config file still remains in your homedir, storing the wrong value.
I'm beginning to think you haven't even tried to solve your problem with my guidance. I've told you the exact location of your cfg file, and I've given you a link too where you can find assistance in locating it.
I can't help you anymore, sorry.

I give you one more hint, given the patient person I am...

Start Nexuiz. Hit Shift+Esc. That should bring down the console. Type in blindly:

exec default.cfg

and hit enter. That should reset all your settings too. If you can't see the result, exit the game. On the next startup, Nexuiz will start with it's default settings.
