Just startup Nexuiz, find your server in the server browser and connect? Or open the ingame console and enter connect localhost if its running on your computer.. or the IP:PORT otherwise.

That's the thing, I am trying to setup a dedicated server without launching the game itself. To my understanding, you put the .bat file in the main directory and the cfg file in the data directory. Then after making changes to the cfg file, you launch the .bat file. When I launch that, I just see a CMD proimpt with loading items.

From another desktop, I launch the game and it doesn't show up in the server browse list. I try to go to the console by typing in "connect IP:2600" and it can't connect. There are no firewalls between the 2 machines.

So am I doing something wrong? I want to do this because we don't want to have to buy a dedicated graphics card. We want to run the game as a dedicated server.

Thanks for your help!

Well the "cmd prompt" is your running nexuiz dedicated server. If you can't find it in the server browser it might be because the server can't connect to the master server or that the ip address it sends to the master server is not right.
However if both your computers are running on the same network it should automatically be found if running on port 26000 which is the default. Are you sure that the IP in your "connect IP:PORT" is correct?

Ok so that's good to know that the cmd prompt is a normal thing to be running. But yes I am connection properling with "connect IP:PORT" with the default port of 26000. I even changed the port number and tried to connect but it wouldn't connect and just say disconncted.

I can def. ping the servers to each other because they are in the same network. The funny thing is, I can launch the server through the game itself and the other clients can connect fine. It's only when I try to run the dedicated one where I can't connect.

Any other ideas?

Are you sure the server is running fine at all? What are the last 50 lines of output in the cmd box?
