NVIDIA Drivers

Postby Pyromace » Thu Jul 03, 2008 1:00 pm

I've got an NVIDIA 8800GT and recently I upgraded to the newest drivers and then Nexuiz started crashing on me periodically. I reverted to some old drivers and everything is fine now, but I just thought some dev might want to know about this problem. Oh yeah, I run on windows.

yep, the 175.16 was a peace of crap, the 175.19 ain't much better, but better, nevertheless...

In my case Nexuiz crashes as well as the drivers, after that they recover but I have to restart the whole system. Any idea why this is happening? And how I can avoid it while still using the latest drivers? The problem seems to be tied to Vista, an XP system runs Nexuiz just fine with the latest drivers.

I'm having the same issue, but I found that it wasn't just Nexuiz that did this, but all OpenGL games. I'm curious which old driver you moved to? Because I went to 169 and the problem persisted.

I also had an issue with the linux nvidia drivers which would freeze up nexuiz after a while, or would snap and give me strange rectangular snow across the screen. I've also had that happen in windows as well.

I actually had some trouble finding drivers that wouldn't crash nexuiz, and weren't crappy in general too. I've finally ended up with 169.21 which I got from guru3D.com and for now everything seems to be working fine.

I've got a Geforce 7600GT in my company PC. I had to test something and installed the old ForceWare 93.71 driver. Guess what, I started Nexuiz just out of curiosity. Where I had around 120-130fps with the 175.19 driver, I had a rush up to 180-205fps!

So if you've got an older Nvidia card, don't waste your ressources by using a current ForceWare release 8)

edit: oh, however, the bold letters in this orum are displayed worse by far, so I have to enterprise some more older drivers to find teh most pwn of teh ForceWares :?
