[SOLVED] Sound Lags Behind Video

Postby TheUbuntuGuy » Mon Dec 15, 2008 11:41 pm

I have been using Ubuntu and Nexuiz for a long time and I have had no problems whatsoever. That was until I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10. Now the sound lags about half a second after the video. This never happened in Ubuntu 8.04. I have tried reinstalling etc. with no avail. Now although it is minor, it is really driving me nuts! I haven't been able to find anything on this topic, so maybe you could help me out.

Thanks in advance

This post covers some problems with Ubuntu, although it is more fps and input delay related it might be worth a try:

It isn't an input delay problem, the guns fire immediately and moving is fine. Its just the sound.

I found out that when i spectated the bots, the sound worked fine, so i tried the above thread and cut and pasted to xorg.conf, and everything is back to normal.
thanks

just one more thing, you have to disable pulseaudio in order for the fix to work.

Did you make sure that disabling pulseaudio is not the whole fix? ;)

disabling pulseaudio is all that is needed. i made a startup script for nexuiz that preforms a few tasks like disabling compiz and stuff. i added 'sudo killall pulseaudio' and the lag is gone.
i can give more info if anyone cares.
