tried it with strange results.

hw gamma makes the screen(s) flicker unless color control is on

if color control is on brightness/contrast dosent work (but color sliders do)

with both color control and gamma on the screen sometimes flickers dependning on how i set the color sliders and some positions on the gamma slider seems to trigger it too.

both off and it dosent flicker as far as i can tell.

system info:
amd a64 2800 / 1gb ram
gf6600gt
one dvi tft, one crt screen
windows xp pro sp2
uppdated drivers and bioses

<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along

That's standard behavior - color control is an alternative method of setting things.

Again normal cases for it to not flicker.

Thanks for testing that, it was just a simple bugfix for something to do with the v_psycho easteregg, I was only wondering if it was involved in the flickering bug, evidently it is not.

No further testing needed until my next guess at the bug.

I'm pretty sure I've fixed the gamma flicker bug now.

It does not flicker for me when using dual monitors in windows. But i think it does not change gamma at all. Can't test it better right now though. Might be able to later the day when i'm back home..

Tested.
Screen flickering gone for me now. so I can now run with HW gamma. My fix was to turn HW gamma off. It used to flicker with HW gamma on.

I had a dual display monitor and noticed the flickiering problem too...running Windows XP. A simple solution for me was just to run in single monitor mode.

Much simpler is to disable v_hwgamma. That is no longer needed with an uptodate engine. I'm not sure if Nexuiz 2.0 already has a new enough engine but the upcomming 2.0.1 patch will for sure. As v_hwgamma will then no longer work on dualmonitor you can use r_hdr_scenebrightness to make things brighter. A value of 2 seems to work quite well.

r_hdr_scenebrightness works, yes it looks nicer too but (at least for me) it does provide less visibility then gamma. i frquently have problems with nos seeing players untill its to late (specialy the gray, some yellow and brown skins) when i cant use gamma. thats kinda enoying. Acctualy player vs world contrast has gotten worse with the new skins imo.

I think you are right, i perfer v_gamma as players are more visible then. At least it seems so to me too :).
I would love to get my hands on CSQC in DP to allow forced models/skins to make things more visible.
