Large menu lag - Intel card, Ubuntu 8.10

On Linux there are 2 sort of drivers: 2d maintained at xorg and 3d maintained at Mesa with OpenGL stack.

I get no menu lag when playing on native resolution, but game itself becomes unplayable.
You can try r_showsurfaces 3 but use this as a last chance.

I'm pretty sure I have mesa installed.
That config file didn't work.

Firstly, you need to uncomment mouse and keyboard sections. In the ServerLayout section add Option "AutoAddDevices" "false". This will get rid of hal (setting off AutoAddDevices) and evdev (uncommenting mouse and keyboard).
