Its weird i configured it for music but there is none, I put a cd in the tray and when i first start nexuiz and it goes to the menu screen( where you choose whether you want single player, settings, etc etc) It plays my cd from the tray fine but when i start the single player game(downer) theres no music , at all. Am I the only one with this problem? I installed nexuiz from the ubuntu hardy repository, (as its the only game that ive found in this genre that actually works right) ( well apart from the no music thing) All the other sounds work perfectly.
Im sorry if someone already posted this somewhere else but when i did a search I couldnt find anything even remotely resembling my problem. I hope thats theres something i can do about it cause id like to be able to get into this game but no music and all explosions is getting really annoying, even if all i can do is get it to play from my own cd's id be happy!!
I dont know if this helps but i noticed at the end of the terminal output as the first game is loading it says, Bad cd track 0, thats also weird cause it says that whether or not i have a cd in the tray. I'm sure it has nothing to do with actual cd that ive inserted, but i figured it might shed some light on this.
Also i checked the config file and everything seems to be in order, although I dont really know whether or not what im seeing is the way it's supposed to be or if somehow it was corrupted.
Is it a possibility that maybe the version i got from the repos just doesnt have music? If thats the case where would i go to get it? I did some reading around and ive noticed that the music tracks are supposed to correspond to the map levels? Is that correct or no? If so couldnt I just rip some of my own music and insert it in place of the music thats missing?( I know technically thats Illegal, but i dont want to give it to other people or anything) I could just rip it in ogg and then using nautilus put it in the correct file, maybe?
Or is it just the first level that doesnt have music? I havnt been able to advance past downer but ive only been playing since yesterday and im getting better!!
Id download the newest version but i find in ubuntu its very hard to uninstall a program once its installed via deb, and since it took me like 12 hours to download it from add/remove i dont really feel like doing it all over again. I dont need or want to play online so the version im using suits me very well, ( except the music part of course, well even if i dont figure this out I guess i could just plug my cd player into my pc speakers and listen to music that way)
I just thought id bring this to someones attention, It might seem like nothing , but to me its important ( not very important) I think that part of the experience of playing a FPS, Is the music, Cube 2 has an awesome sound track, I might have to start playing that again till i can get some way to get the music playback working, but i wont give up on it just yet.
Thank you guys for any help you can provide and if theres any info you need let me know!!
BTW, Im running ubuntu hardy 8.4, 1.2 ghz amd athlon ondemand overclocking to 1700+, Gigabyte K7 triton Motherboard with built in 6 channel sound, 1 gig DDR ram, Nvidia 6200 LE-A with 256 mbs DDR2 ram, 250 gig Maxtor 7300 rpm HDD. Hope this helps!!
When you download the package via add remove or synaptic it doesnt download the music files, so if anyone else has this problem just open synaptic, clik on search and type in nexuiz, then scroll down and select nexuiz-music files clik on the checkbox and select install packege. Sorry I guess i had a brain fart!!
