Off-Hand Grappling Hook

I'm having some issues with the grappling hook. I haven't played Nexuiz for about a year or so until now (version 2.5). It used to be that you could use the grappling hook with unlimited "ammo" and while still using your gun.
As far as I have been able to gather, this was called "off-hand grappling hook". I found some instructions on enabling it, but they don't seem to work for me.
The instructions said to set

g_grappling_hook 1

and add

Code: Select all

g_start_weapon_hook 0

in server.cfg
However, I already had g_grappling_hook set to 1, and the only effect I've noticed of g_start_weapon_hook 0 is that I no longer start with the grappling hook gun, I have to go find it before I can use the grappling hook.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Both settings together should simply work.. press the 'e' button and it should use the off-hand hook. You might have to restart the map or change to an other one though when you change those settings on a already running server.

I've even tried rebooting the entire machine, it still requires me to find and pick up the grappling hook before I can use it, and it switches to that gun when I use it.
I don't know if it makes any difference, but I'm running it on a Ubuntu Linux 8.10 server.

[edit] Odd, I went in and typed them again and it works fine. I wonder if copying them from the forums post must have had an extra space or the character encoding was different....

Oh i had such a problem too once.. the server got that copy/paste as ONE long line then, not sure why though.
