Nexuiz 2.0 runs a LOT Slower with the same settings as 1.5

I and a few people I know are all going to back to 1.5 ,
1.5 runs better, in 1.5 picking up the quad doesnt drop in frame rate
and in 1.5 the grapple works correctly

Yesterday i was able to run 2.0 on my girlfriends PC.
It an Intel 2.5 Ghz with a GeForce 4 MX440 with only 64MB and 512MB DDR Ram.
I used the low.cfg and everything runs VERY fine. But things like bloon or light effects give that machine the rest. Of course I haven't tried other things out yet, but I'm sure there is muc more possible because on the "normal" low.cfg it runs from 160-60 FPS. With normal.cfg it's playable but goes down in hard matches with lots of explosions (light effects).
But still very good if you ask me.

most of the people i've spoken to confirm an increase in fps since 2.0 on most maps. it doesn't make sense going back to 1.5, you will never be able to connect to servers with a higher version and will be missing all the new nice features coming up :)
and btw, the grapple hook still works correctly, it just works differently

Thats fine . Im requesting that my ISP change the dedicated server back to v1.5 . If that stops the const flow of high ping overseas people
(150 to 900 ping) from joining the game . I am all for it .

What new features?? Laggy Graphics when picking up quad ??
Crapy new grapple ???

No thanks .. Nexuiz v1.5 is fine .

Sorry but this attitute seems very very over-the-top!

I think Nexuiz 2.0 has more effects enabled by default as 1.5 as its running faster in general. Maybe your computer has big trouble with one of them. But effects can be disabled. Could you make a copy of your config.cfg and enter exec low.cfg;vid_restart into your console to see if this helps?

Maybe you find even some time to invest into finding out which effect does this slowdown. I think picking up the quad should not have an fps impact if you disable all the realtime effects. Nexuiz 2.0 has not changed that much from 1.5 so if there are FPS losses the developers would like to know more about it!

Well my PC has a small Framedrop, when picking up a Quad, as well.
BUT this only happens if you have realtime lights activated so your player "glows" while quad is active.
I already had this in 1.2, 1.21, 1.5 and 2.0. But the drop is much smaller with 2.0 (i can now play with realtime effects that come with high.cfg, no way with 1.5). Probably your problem is, that Nex2.0 has more effects enabled by default than 1.5.

Try the same way i always do:
load the low.cfg, activate one effect after another, then you will find out what sucks most performance.
