Ubuntu - Flickers when run from terminal, crashes otherwise

Postby robosllim » Wed Jun 10, 2009 4:59 pm

Running Ubuntu Jaunty on an HP Pavilion laptop with an Intel Mobile 945GM/GMS graphics card.
I'm running the 2.5 release, installed using the deb package from the downloads section. I believe I've got the SDL version...

I haven't been able to find this exact problem anywhere else. When I run Nexuiz from the terminal (just typing "nexuiz"), the game loads up fine, but flickers really bad. I can enter navigate menus and enter and play a game just fine but I can barely tell what's going on.
When I run the game from the Applications > Games menu, the flickering isn't present, but when I try to enter any game the program quits without any message or anything.

Thoughts? Solutions?

Could be running glx instead. If you type nexuiz[tab][tab] in terminal does it list other options?

I'm not 100% clear on how the nexuiz alias is associated with the game when installed via a package management system.

this command can help you find if glx is on your system
Code: Select all
locate nexuiz |grep glx

Tab-tabbing doesn't show any other options. It just shows me a bunch of unrelated scripts.

Executing those commands doesn't return anything, either.
