Nexuiz "Quake Error" message and crash.

Postby AnArKiSt » Thu Jun 11, 2009 5:59 pm

Nexuiz.exe crashed and gave the error when I attempted to enter match 27, the race in Nexuiz 2.5 campaign.

Code: Select all
Mem_CheckSentinels: trashed header sentinel 2 (block allocated at snd_mem.c90, sentinel check at cl_parse.c:1777)

I was using video capture software at the time of the crash.

Thanks for reading.
My will be done.

Nexuiz can record by itself. No need to use external recording software.

Well, Nexuiz makes my computer all slow when it records, the software I was using makes decent quality recordings with a hardly noticable performance hit.

I'd use WeGame, but I think it only works with Direct3D games, as the recordng button does not work, and the recording status overlay does not appear.

If anybody can provide me or like me to recording software that does not make my computer slow, please do.
My will be done.

What you can do is enable the setting "wait for GPU to finish each frame" under "Settings" - "Video".

Start playing your demo.
As usual you just hit your record button, then its just going to look like its going slow as molasses in january.
However, dont get your knickers all tangled up, just lean back and wait and when its finally done, you look in your /data/video folder and play that video, its smooth as butter!

You can basically have full settings and bling bling, jazz and what not on. Thats how I record my stuff.

Btw, often the video, its kind of unsynced and choppy, (at least when I watch it with mplayer)so I use http://handbrake.fr/ to encode it to h264, so it looks fine, meanwhile I read some news, play some mario, and then watch it, to see how it really looks before I upload it to the youtubes or the like.

Demo recording makes the game lag like hell.

So if you have the setting under "multiplayer" - "Demos" - "Record demos while playing" on, it lags when you play nexuiz on some server on the vast seas of internets?

Otherwise, yes it will lag quite a bit, when you record movie clips, while replaying a demo on a game you recorded earlier. But as I said, just wait until you have the material you want, then stop recording and look at it.

Listen, demo recording is impractical because the game starts skipping when good action happens, if I'm involved in it or not. The lag makes playing difficult, so tell me how to record demos without the lag, or record videos without the performance hit like WeGame does, or drop it.

I would not be asking this if the recording options in the client weren't performance killers.
