Have you tried any tweaking as mentioned here in the thread or the FAQ comming with Nexuiz? The 5700 is 2 generations old and ok for simple engines/games but not for demanding stuff :)

Ooops!

I just buy this card 3 moths ago because was cheapo and my older card whas a ATI 9800XT and whas dificult to configure on Linux.

What 3D card you suggest for Linux? (Nvidia please)

note: I disable all the eyecandy I can on the menus, except texture quality.

I'm not totaly up to time with all this hardware stuff. I got myself a 6600gt for 150euros a few months ago. Its very good for Nexuiz and i can even play quake 4 with it. But if you buy something new you maybe should look for something like a passivly cooled 7600/7800.. Not sure about the price though :)

Slow fps in general with low fps spikes. Other games (Warsow and Tremulous) work fine on this comp.


Try disabling "OpenGL 2.0" shaders in the Effects menu. The FX line of cards is usually too slow to use those.
