Screen resolution problem on Vista

Postby jlee712 » Sun Sep 20, 2009 2:48 pm

Hi,

I've been playing Nexuiz fullscreen at a screen resolution lower than my normal one. To my knowledge, whenever I finish playing this game, exit the program, put my computer to sleep, then awaken it later, the desktop screen resolution turns out to be the same as that of Nexuiz. I then always have to go to the control panel to readjust it. Does anyone else have similar problems, and does anyone know how to solve this annoying issue? I'm running Nexuiz under compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2 in my Vista.

Screen resolution problem on Vista

Postby monster munch » Thu Oct 08, 2009 12:47 pm

I've had this problem, too, although I run both Vista and Nexuiz at 1400x900. I notice that the resolution shifts down when loading Nexuiz but, as said above, it doesn't always shift back up again when exiting (only since I installed 2.5.2, don't think I saw this before).

Not a constant problem, but it does sometime pop up when I boot Vista, too. No idea on a solution, but I'd be inclined to blame Vista or Nvidia (I use a GeForce 8400 GS).

Certainly not the end of the world, and it won't stop me playing Nexuiz!

(Probably won't be an answer - Windows of all versions is unpopular on this forum!)

Also, I don't think that there is any need to run Nexuiz in compatability mode in Vista (other than that already discussed, I've never had any trouble with it).

If the computer is in it's native resolution at the time it goes to sleep, this would be a driver issue, though if possible, please check task manager to make sure the nexuiz.exe (or nexuiz-sdl.exe) process is not still running. And as monster munch mentioned, Windows XP w/ SP2 compatibility should not be needed on Vista or Windows 7 for Nexuiz.

As for Nexuiz exiting and not changing back to the native resolution, does that happen for any other games?

Thanks for your replies.

I haven't noticed this problem on any other games that I'd played on this computer.

I think I fixed it now with 2.5.1 by setting the Nexuiz resolution to the same one as the native. I hope it works with 2.5.2 too.
