In 2.5.1, I use maps in dlcache directory by using command chmap or gotomap.
But in 2.5.2 I cannot do this. It says cannot find map-name.bsp.
I don't know if this is a bug.

move them to the data folder, dlcache data is only loaded if you have connected to a server that uses that map

I know. But before, I can use it even in dlcache directory. I don't know whether this is a bug or just intended.

I don't know of any versions at least since 2.4 that would allow this.

No, you couldn't. Nexuiz doesn't allow that (And hasn't for a while) since compat files and other packages contain different data for different situations, thus loading them could be hazardous.

If you could do it in a previous version, it was a bug in that version
