Bug, cannot switch to lower resolution in 2.52 and SVN

Postby liberty » Mon Oct 12, 2009 9:09 pm

I am on a laptop with resolutino 1440x900. The nexuiz will use 1440x900. But if i want play in window mode with res 1024x768. I cannot scale down the res. I can only edit config file.
I don't know whether it is a bug or "Feature".

I can lower the resolution without any problems. First go check for a new GFX driver.

In case of technical problems everybody should get used to posting detailed system specs.

Apply Fullscreen = No in the menu, and see if your resolution options change after the rendering engine restarts.

As I recall, Fullscreen pulls a list of available resolutions that your graphics driver supplies, but windowed should still use a pre-determined list.

I don't have the list. There is only 1440x900 in the list. I am using Intel GMA 4500 MHD with Mesa 7.5 driver.
If I change it by hand, it will be custom in the list.

Yes, this currently cannot be helped, as sliders cannot dynamically get their possible values changed (and it currently indeed shows exactly those resolution your operating system says that your screen supports).

For now, use the console if you want to use windowed mode with a custom resolution. Could make a cvar to change that, but it would require an engine restart to apply. Not really good either.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.
