2.5.2 Full + windows 2000 pro = freeaddrinfo error

Postby elRey » Sat Oct 31, 2009 4:36 pm

Is 2.5.2 not win2k compatible?

Trying to run nexuiz 2.5.2 full on Windows 2000 Pro SP4 gives a

nexuiz.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point freeaddrinfo could not be located in the dynamic link library WS2_32.dll

The freeaddrinfo function was added to the Ws2_32.dll on Windows XP and later. To execute an application using this function on earlier versions of Windows ...

Is there a workaround to get 2.5. working on win2k?

Thanks,
Rey

Just so you know: win 2k is no longer supported.

<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along
<Samua>]Idea: Fix it? :D

Yes it is, compatibility goes all the way back to win9x, it always has, and I see no reason to change that.

I think some more minimal Linux distros don't build their kernel with IPv6 support either, hence if IPv6 was a requirement for Nexuiz, it wouldn't work on those systems either although many users of these uberlightweight distros are using crummy old hardware that wouldn't even manage Nexuiz on absolute minimum settings.
