missing hud images and a few sprite items

2.4.2 on XP

All of my hud images are missing (unable to load gfx/hud/num_9).
and a few sprites like (model/sprite/item_strength via %/*.tag %/*.png) or something like that.

Where should I look for them in the Nexuiz directory structure?

Other than that games maps look/run fine.

Why are you using 2.4.2?

2.5.2 is the latest version

I tried both several times. 2.4.2 just happen to be the last one I installed when I gave up AND for less CPU/GPU intense models (right?).

If you play on a 2.5.2 server with an old client your hud will not display correctly
I suggest you download the latest version and tweak the video settings to get better performance.

Also you could try cl_playerdetailreduction -2 and r_showsurfaces 3
