kpd_ins between matches dysfunction

Greetings fellow players,

This is my first post here. I first tried searching through the posts for a solution. I am using 2.5.2 64bit on Ubuntu 9.10. My problem with the keypad insert key occurs between matches, right after the display of maps to choose from appear. I press the kpd_ins key to try and chat/continue a chat and nothing happens. I have to repeatedly press kpd_ins or just wait for the voting to end and I can continue. Unfortunately if I just received a dis/slap or need to heap a little of my own, I am interrupted and must wait 'till the next match starts before trying again.

I have mentioned this to other players during play and no one ever mentioned a problem like mine. I am on a verizon fios broadband residential connection. Any suggestions?

Map voting works by forcing a set of special binds during the vote. Both the regular number keys and the numpad keys are reassigned, all keys from 0 to 9. What you can do is use "t" instead (at least in the vote screen).
