Few questions about DSN

I'm sorry if this is the wrong section, I just had a few questions.
First of all, I love Nexuiz, fast paced shooting rocks :D
And as far as I understand it's extremely customizable.
I'm using a laptop with WinXP and 1.6 gHz - 512 ram.
It's not able to run the normal Nexuiz without getting framerate drop. I think it's the player models that make it lag that bad, because it's perfect on the tutorial
level, but on the second level (where you have to kill 1 bot), it lags badly each time my view is on the bot. And on a map with even more players the game turns into a slide show :?

So I came across Damn Small Nexuiz. It's perfect, runs smoothly. The box player models don't bother me either, actually I even like it.
The only thing that bothers me is that the weapon textures don't get drawn. Is there a way to set this? It would be nice to see the actual weapons.
And I think it wouldn't hurt the performance that bad.
Perhaps a noob question, but I am, so that's ok :P

Second, when I play online with DSN, the hud images don't show up.
So I never know how much live, armor, ammo I got left :)
On singleplayer everything is fine.
Is there a way to fix this?

I guess there isn't a way to turn off the normal Nexuiz player models and use boxes like in DSN instead? That would make everything perfect :roll:

There's no 2.5.2 DSN, which is why the HUD doesn't work... At this point I've decided to just wait for 2.5.3, but who knows maybe I might release a 2.5.2 version some day before 2.5.3 comes out :p

Edit: you could actually try moving the dsn data pk3 into the data directory of a normal nexuiz install, the models/textures etc should be replaced, but the hud should still work.

It would be really awesome if you'd release a new version :D. Awesome like aliens made of chocolate trying to invade earth (just imagine)
And if we're allowed to have requests, I think if you'd make it an option to turn the weapon textures on/off, that would be nifty. :P


I tried your idea with the data.pk3. Unfortunately it didn't make anything better.
The result was that the player models did turn into boxes, and the item models into sprites.
But the weapons weren't shown at all this time :roll:, neither the HUD (when online).
