I love this game, but...

Postby Alondra » Fri May 07, 2010 11:44 am

I just started Nexuiz... love it, haven't had time for a while to game and I'm loving it.
Could someone please help with some questions I have... I can't find a good enough comprehensive help doc.
I'm stuck on silvercity map, hate the lasers.

1. I'm playing Single Player, playing each level successively. I'm stuck so I need cheats to get past the level: silvercity;
sv_cheats 1
changelevel silvercity
god

I can play with god mode but my game won't save with the 'X' that shows I've completed the level so I
can move on to the next level. Also, the weapons are different when I sv_cheat 1 . Does that mean
the sv_cheat 1 only works with the Multiplayer mode not Single Player?

2. When I make a server for LAN use, is there a better way to save a game other than: save <save name> .

3. How can I make the bots less smart in the Single Player game so I can clear a level I don't like easier.

Thank you much.

Question 1: First of all, I think doing 'changelevel silvercity' probably takes you out of the campaign and into a regular local game at that map. Secondly, I hope that a protection was coded in, so that using cheats would either not be possible, or not make you pass that level. But I'm not too sure about that either.

One thing I know you can do is edit the file 'campaign.cfg'. I don't have nexuiz installed at the moment, but do a hard drive search if you can not find it in the Nexuiz folder. There you can increment the level counter by one, to skip to the next level.

Question 2 and 3: can't really help you. But what you should know is that these forums are pretty much deserted nowadays. It's just halogene, some spambots, the occasional Rad_Ished and myself. You will have better luck asking these same questions at Nexuiz's sequal project Xonotic's forums at http://www.xonotic.org.

Thanks for the help.

So is the current Nexiuz 'continued' on the new website?
Can I ask these types of questions there?

Ciao.

Well, Xonotic is a fork of Nexuiz, but virtually the whole community switched to Xonotic. Xonotic will be (once released) a bit different/divVerent, but generally speaking we all expect it to be some sort of progress. I believe the Xonotic forum has many members that are willing and able to help you.
<Community>: Why was the name "Nexuiz" licensed to IllFonic in a way that allows IllFonic to use the name without any suffix or subtitle for a commercial console game?

Thanks for the advise, still a 'wee bit' unclear...
what exactly are these forums for if Nexuiz is sold and split up?
Is this going to be closed?

Thanks.

Well the project Nexuiz isn't formally closed. There's still Lee Vermeulen as the owner of the name and a lot of players.

But I don't know of a single developer that did not move on to Xonotic (except for, technically, Forest "Lord Havoc" Hale, he is the developer of the Darkplaces engine which Nexuiz uses, but that engine will be used for Xonotic as well). So basically unless there are new developers jumping around a corner out of nowhere and doing fancy stuff with the code, then this project won't continue. But it is not formally closed. There currently are just no developers present in this project any more. And, after what happened, I wonder who'd be willing to sacrifice his/her spare time for this project.

This forum is (and probably stays) the official Nexuiz forum. Since the former Nexuiz community moved to a new project (Xonotic), a new forum was created over there. No need to close this forum. Xonotic is a new project.

Understood. Thank you.

I enjoy playing Nexius still as my favorite FPS, more than Alien Arena.

All the best.
