Segmentation fault 2.5.2 server start. Linux 2.6.26.8-57.fc8

Postby frog » Fri May 07, 2010 6:04 pm

Hi,
I've just installed Nexuiz 2.5.2 on a Linux box running Fedora 8 2.6.26.8-57.fc8 with glibc-2.7-2.x86_64 and glibc-2.7-2.i686.

I've tried start it a number of ways, but each time results in a segmentation fault.

Suggestions?

hmm I won't be able to help you here but if you want anyone to help you then you'd need to post some system specs apart from the kernel.

Also you might want to try to post your question to the Xonotic forum, maybe someone over there will be able to help, too? The Nexuiz community that was here three months ago pretty much left and went to www.xonotic.org. See here viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6079 for more details.

It's a XEON X3560 Quad Core with 8 gig ram running 64bit Fedora Core 8 with glibc-2.7-2.x86_64 and glibc-2.7-2.i686.

Are there any additional specs that would be helpful for me to list?

Well, you could add your gpu too... also, you obviously need to have 3D acceleration drivers installed, but I guess you figured that out too. :o)

What you COULD do, is to install the latest development version from git or svn and see if that crashes, too. There have been lots of improvements made, but then again there's a reason the development version wasn't released yet. Though I don't have any instabilities or crashes on my ubuntu lucid on AMD X2.

As per the topic, this is a server in a rack that I am referring to. It doesn't really have a GPU.
