ATI drivers 6-7 bug cannot play Nexuiz???

Postby madmonk80 » Wed Aug 02, 2006 12:42 pm

Hi all...

this morning I updated my 9600xt ATi SuCkinG Radeon drivers from 6-6 to 6-7.

I tried to play Nexuiz but now it is unplayable!!!! It seems like the buttons of my keybord remains stucked and I keep on walkin facing the walls!!! Also the mouse doesn't work..sometimes I cannot turn at all!!!!

I'm on winxp... on Kubuntu Nexuiz works fine (for how it is possible :( )...

Does anyone else find out this problems? Maybe it's a bug or incompatibility problem with the new drivers???

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update:

It's like the last button I press keep on moving me for few seconds...

For example when I press space to start I keep on jumping for three seconds the I go...

I guess I will downgrade to 6-6...... :(

I also saw other players (noobs) stucked in the walls!!! I guess it's the same problem!!!!

Eek that sounds really bad and makes me glad i gave windows a good kick and use debian now :).
You can try if using 'the other' nexuiz helps. nexuiz.exe vs nexuiz-sdl.exe. Next you can try moving Nexuiz/data/config.cfg to a save place and try it again. This means removing your config from nexuiz and trying with the defaults. If its still the same you can move the file back and so restore your settings.
There was a bug in Nexuiz that could cause the mouse problem and i'm not sure if its fixed for 2.0 already or only the upcoming patch. Removing your config like above should help with this bug. In that case you can correct it: open your config.cfg with a editor and search for m_pitch .. it should be 0.022 (normal mouse) or -0.022 (inverted mouse) but not Off :)
Other then that it would be good to know if going back to your old driver really helps. Its hard to belive a driver update can causes so much trouble with other components.. ( :) would that be the AMD influence? :P )

Better downgrade, that's the only thing you can do right now. Stuff like that happened at the Nvidias several times as well (even though long ago).

On that one PC I'm running a Radeon 9800 Pro I run the catalyst 6.14 and it works fine for me. As long as I dont have any trouble with it, I dont even think of an update :D

I have a test system with a Mobility 9600, will try using the 6.7 Mobility drivers.
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
3. Save
4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.
