Any news on the already discussed sound issues for 1.5 or is that on ice for now untill we know more about it?

Thanks

I have some sound issues too (and graphics issues, framerate issues, connection issues...), but I don't remember what it said to do on the old forums.

Try adding -sndstereo and/or -sndspeed 48000 to the commandline. This has been said before in the new forums but needs to be Sticky really.

Its still good to have, as there are several new player that's asked about the same. Did this make it into the 1.5.1 FAQ?

I asked help for this problem on another post (see Ubuntu 5.10 No audio thread)...

Now I use the command:

./nexuiz-linux.sh -sndstereo

and it works perfectly! :)

While we have reports that it solves the problem on linux, on windows there is no change; positive or negative.

Here is a question.
While nexuiz supports 5.1, does it support stereo speakers as well or is it surround only? Might be a dumb question but that wouldnt be a first for me
Like I mentioned in the old forum, my hardware is fine since I have no issues in other 5.1 games. Currently I have GTA: San Andreas on my box and it sounds rather beautiful...so did nex 1.2.1.
For us having this problem, it's very difficult playing since many times one is fragged from behind from a close range without even noticing it. All sounds are extremly muffled and blured except ones own. Own sounds are simply loud and sound very metalic.

I have been wondering this with the new sound system. Under Windows I have noticed really rubbish directionality that is as if it isn't downmixing to 2 speakers. I have my sound drivers set to 2 speakers but no real help.

Under Linux since specifying -sndstereo it seems to be downmixing properly now.

I use windows with a stereo only soundcard.. who needs more than 2 speakers anywyas.. you only have two ears :) and i too have some problem figuring out direction of the sound.. especially if you use the MG on me, i hardly notice it before I'm dead.
