less Mouse response in nexuiz-sdl.exe ?

Postby Urmel » Tue Aug 29, 2006 6:01 pm

I can't remember exactly if this issue has already been posted in another thread. Caused by more and more frequent system crashes (game went slower and the whole system froze by about 5 seconds) while using the nexuiz.exe under WinXP SP2 I changed to nexuiz-sdl.exe.

It seems I solved my problem by doing this. Now I experience a new issue in the movement with the mouse. Well, not exactly the movement which is quite similar to before, it's the fire buttons that don't have the quick response I'm used to.

Surely you'll understand why this is kinda annoying. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem?

I use a logitech MX518 (USB) with the logitech 3.0.107 drivers.

Besides I discussed that crash issue with Kyre and we came to the conclusion that I should get myself a new PSU, which is already ordered. And I really hope I can change back to the nexuiz.exe... :?

You could try if gl_finish 1 helps to improve your situation. Other then that i have no idea right now.

From the wiki (which has it from the DP help strings :)) :
gl_finish
default value: "0"
make the cpu wait for the graphics processor at the end of each frame render (can help with strange input or video lag problems on some machines)

The sdl version can only use 4 mouse buttons if i remember correct. Thats however a SDL problem and Nexuiz can't to anything about it. Well it should be possible to fix SDL though..
I worked around this by assigning keys to the mouse buttons and using those keys in Nexuiz. E.g. Tell the mouse driver that mouse5 = \ and use \ in Nexuiz. This should work with Logitech drivers too.

works

edit sept 1 2006: Got my new PSU, now the nexuiz.exe is running properly again about which I'm really happy because now I can change back and set gl_finish back to 0 because KadaverJack told me that 1 is bad for the performance obviously
