Nexuiz + linux = gfx problems?

Postby Calmatory » Fri Sep 15, 2006 12:28 pm

Well. The Subject of this topic is a bit wrong, but anyway.

Im having some odd problems with thextures, they are not rendered properly. I can't explain what it looks like. I will take a screenshot whenever someone tells me how to take one. :P
(This is probably due to "direct rendering: No" when i do glxinfo, even nvidia drivers are properly installed, AFAIK)

Another thing is returning to desktop with linux (Ubuntu), How can i do that? I mean, the same as alt+tab in Windows, Ubuntu does not seem to support that, altho alt+tab works whenever not in OGL mode.

Welcome to the forum Cal matory :)

If glxinfo says no your nvidia drivers are obviously not properly installed. Try to fix that first, otherwise there wont be a chance Nexuiz will run well. I cant give an advice on that, i just know that installing ati drivers can be troublesome, i hope nvidia drivers do better. Have a look at a Debian/Ubuntu forum, i am sure there are plenty of Howtos on that topic.
For switching back to desktop have a look here:
http://www.forums.alientrap.local/viewtopic.php?t=831
And u can take screenshots by pressing F12 ingame by default, it will be saved in ~/.nexuiz/date/screenshots

Good luck :)

Thank you.

Well, what I have read from different forums about the drivers and "direct rendering", people have suggested different ways to enable it, even drivers are properly installed, I am going to have some examination on these..

Im not that new here actually, only on new board, in old one i used nick GreenBall, if anyone remembers. :P I've been mostly reading since the forum change. :)

Yeah you should try to fix your drivers. Depending on your distribution there might be packages to install to get those closed source drivers installed or packages that will at least help you to get them installed..
BTW you to make screenshots by pressing f12.. its bound to the command screenshot :)
You will find them in ~/.nexuiz/data/screenshots/

Yeah. I am afraid I messed them up with 2 installations of drivers, no uninstalling between...

I already took some screens, but I think they are not needed. If someone wants to see how it looks like, just ask for screen. :)

Almost same thing applies with Enemy Territory, but the graphics mess up a bit different way,

Well, i havent played Nexuiz like for a year or so. Sometimes on my brothers comp, nice to see how the new features affect to gameplay and such.

And yes, I got it working correctly. :)
