Millisecond or microsecond timing of benchmarks?

Postby Ed » Thu Sep 21, 2006 7:05 pm

DP normally reports benchmarks with 6dp precision, that correspons to timing to the nearest microsecond. However, on a laptop we have (Via Nehemiah based running Sabayon Linux) under Linux the timing is only to the nearest millisecond. Timings will be like xx.xxx000 and any framerates correspond to this hypothesis, ie max fps at 83.838383, 90.909090, 100.000000, 111.111111, 125.000000, corresponding to 12, 11, 10, 9, 8 milliseconds, all integers. This always happens on it, on any binaries.

Has any else seen this millisecond limitation? Is it a hardware problem? Or software?
Laters losers.
