It can hurt to cycle through 13 choices, some people won't have the patience to keep clicking the TextSwitch.
Anyone who wishes to run in 1600x900 or 2048x1536 resolution should set up their resolution through the console.
If people have the hardware to run very high resolutions, they should be intelligent enough to set up custom resolutions.
It is good that widescreen is now included in the options, but 13 is a bit too much.

Removing 2 resolutions doesn't really make a difference imho.
But i don't really think that it's a big problem because
1) you can cycle the list in bot directions and
2) you usually don't change your resolution on a daily basis ;)

1280x720 is very common (widescreen TVs use this a lot, and these almost always has vga/dvi input)

Are you shure about that one? The other widescreen resolutions are all 16:10...
I am sure. WSXGA+ is common with Dell and Apple displays.

I hope you aren't *too* sure about that, because it's 1680x1050 :)
Also, 960x600 is also a somewhat common low-res widescreen mode as well.
And 1280x960 is a very common resolution (4:3 as opposed to 5:4 of 1280x1024) for CRT users.

So my update to Dave's list would be:
    640x480
    800x600
    960x600 (w)
    1024x768
    1152x864
    1280x800 (w)
    1280x960
    1280x1024
    1440x900 (w)
    1680x1050 (w)
    1600x1200
    1920x1200 (w)

Also, a list of 16:9 resolutions (televisions)
854x480 (EDTV)
1280x720 (720p/i)
1366x768 (LCD)
1920x1080 (1080i/p)

So it seems a 4:3 (Standard), 16:10[8:5] (PC Widescreen) and 16:9 (Television Widescreen) selection would be userful for defining arrays of resolutions.

What about rather than defining resolutions in the menu, running a query for all of the available resolutions given by the driver? I would favour that approach as then people would almost always have the correct native resolution available, however obscure it is. Looking through the nVIDIA driver, there are quite a few I've never seen as a native resolution but somewhere someone may want them.

Yeah that would be nice but i think its not very easy to do (if possible at all) with the current menu code..

And is there a 1024x640 resolution?

Edit: there already is 1600x900 in the menu, i think that makes more sense since it's 16:9

It should be 1680x1050, most 20 inches LCD monitors use this resolution

I use ViewSonic W2025WM, but I can't choose this resolution from the option dialog, I hope 1.6 or 1.5.1 will have this option.

Play this game with widescreen is very excellent.
