For image tags to work you have to provide the link directly to the image. As an example, instead of using "http://img204.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ceilingcatix6.jpg" you actually have to right click on the image, select "view image" and use the adress "http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/2645/ceilingcatix6.jpg". In the first one you can see you are actually pointing the forum script to another php file (my.php) and telling that php file that the variable "image" is "ceilingcatix6.jpg". In the second one you point it directly to the image file

Of course, the hosting service will not like it very much, as no ads around means no extra money coming into their pockets, but it's not like you're doing anything illegal (they could have set restrictions that would stop you from doing this but they didn't)
