I'm wanting to get some suggestions on what tools you might use on Linux for website design or development?
So far, I'm checking out...
Eclipse and various plugins
Aptana
IE4Linux for testing...although it doesn't seem to accurately render like IE6 on Windows.
Firefox and various developer plugins
I just paid for a license of Pixel Image Editor, which appears to be a nice multi-platform photoshop alternative, although it's in beta right now.
I'm looking forward to the open source version of that Xara illustration program when it becomes available.
I'd like to become familiar with Blender in case I need any 3D design elements.
I'd like to figure out how to run Flash MX using Wine.
I'd like to figure out how to setup a virtual machine for true IE testing.
I tried Notepad++ on Windows and I liked it. Supposedly, it is based on Scintilla on Linux. Has anyone used Scintilla? I don't think Scintilla has all of the features that Notepad++ has.
Has anyone tried Apache2Triad on Windows? It's a one-click install WAMP package with Apache, MySQL, PostgreSQL, PHP, Perl and Python with a web-based control panel. Does anyone know of any LAMP packages that offer anything similar to that, with the simple install and the web control panel?
